Edwin A. Fleishman (born March 10, 1927) is an American psychologist best known for his work in the field of industrial and organizational psychology. Among his notable achievements was a taxonomy for describing individual differences in perceptual-motor performance. He graduated Loyola College in Maryland in 1945, then served in the United States Navy. He earned his doctorate in applied psychology in 1951 from Ohio State University, then took a position with the United States Air Force. He was the President of Advanced Research Resources Organization (ARRO) and was a professor at Yale University. However, Fleishman produced his greatest and best known quantity of work as a professor at George Mason University. He also served as a visiting professor at the University of California. He is also past president of the International Association of Applied Psychology (IAAP) and the American Psychological Association's (APA) Divisions of Industrial and Organizational Psychology, Evaluation and Measurement, and its Society of Engineering Psychologists. He is the author of several books and was the Editor of the Journal of Applied Psychology and the recipient of APA's Distinguished Scientific Award for the Applications of Psychology. In 1994 he was one of 52 signatories on "Mainstream Science on Intelligence,〔Gottfredson, Linda (December 13, 1994). Mainstream Science on Intelligence.
